Clinical & Therapeutic Care
Trauma-informed psychotherapy (individual and group), crisis-adjacent and early intervention support, and specialized care for communities facing systemic barriers.
Trauma lives in the body — and healing must be experienced, not just understood. The Trauma Health & Embodiment Centre is a first-of-its-kind space where people move from survival to regulation, and from regulation to growth.
AN INITIATIVE BY TEAO CANADA
This initiative is rooted in TEAO’s belief that healing is relational. We create gentle, community-led spaces for connection, support, learning, and embodied wellbeing.

About THEC
The Trauma Health & Embodiment Centre (THEC) is a concept developed by the Trauma and Embodiment Association of Ontario (TEAO). It envisions a multi-zoned healing facility that integrates clinical psychotherapy, somatic and embodiment-based practices, and community-led support.
Our approach recognizes that trauma is stored in the body and that healing requires more than talk therapy alone. We are building a space where people can access care that honours the full complexity of their experience.
To become Canada's leading integrated trauma recovery centre — a national model where clinical excellence, embodied healing, and community care operate as one system, accessible to all who need it.
Clinical care, embodiment, and community support operate as one integrated system — not siloed services. Three interconnected pillars work together to support the full healing journey.
Trauma-informed psychotherapy (individual and group), crisis-adjacent and early intervention support, and specialized care for communities facing systemic barriers.
Somatic therapies through movement, yoga, and expressive modalities. Nervous system regulation spaces and physical release practices including sensory, movement, and stillness rooms.
Peer-led support circles, cultural and land-based practices in collaboration with Indigenous partners, and community meals and belonging-based programming.
Our services span the full spectrum of trauma-responsive care — from clinical psychotherapy to somatic healing and community connection.
Individual and group psychotherapy, crisis-adjacent intervention, specialized support for system-impacted populations, and trauma-focused assessment and care navigation.
Peer support circles, community meals, land-based healing in partnership with Indigenous communities, and belonging-based programming for connection and mutual aid.
Yoga, breathwork, expressive arts, movement therapy, and regulation-focused body practices in dedicated sensory and movement rooms.
Body-based trauma processing, nervous system regulation, de-escalation support, and integration of physical release with therapeutic care.
THEC's training hub develops the next generation of trauma-informed practitioners. Our programs blend clinical knowledge with embodied learning and anti-oppressive frameworks.
We are committed to building the evidence base for embodiment-based trauma care. Our research partnerships advance knowledge while centering community voice.
Partnering with universities and research institutions to evaluate outcomes, document best practices, and contribute to the growing field of somatic trauma recovery.
Centering lived experience in our research design, ensuring that those most impacted by trauma contribute to shaping solutions and measuring what matters.
THEC is not just a facility — it is a new model of care. We invite funders, organizations, clinicians, and community members to join us in building a space where healing is embodied, relational, and accessible to all.
