CCAWR Black History Month Virtual Launch Event

To kickstart Black History Month 2021, The Caribbean Canadian Association of Waterloo Region initiated this incredible virtual event to showcase black community groups and resources that can benefit the African, Black, and Caribbean communities within Waterloo Region. Some of the categories of resources include mental and physical health, financial literacy, legal support, entrepreneurship, and education. Nicole's segment is called "Why Trauma in Black Communities 'H.I.T.' so Differently & Progressive Muscle Relaxation Technique" and can be seen at 3:13:00. In April 2023, Nicole Brown Faulknor was featured on The Nikki Clarke Show, which was broadcast across multiple major platforms, including Afroglobal TV and Jaundoo Radio. She Is Your Neighbour

2024

In 2024, TEAO Canada was involved in “She Is Your Neighbour,” a impactful short documentary focused on domestic violence awareness and survivor storytelling. In the film, Nicole Brown Faulknor is shown recording a podcast and consulting with the Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. This involvement strongly aligns TEAO with high-level advocacy, systemic education, and narrative change work. By participating in this project, the organization helped shine a vital light on the intersections of community shelter support and trauma-informed care.
