We often think of our "story" as the words we tell people. But the nervous system has its own narrative. If your body spent years in a state of high alert, its "story" is one of constant danger. Healing involves teaching the body a new narrative: the story of the "Now."

From "What's Wrong" to "What Happened"

A trauma-informed perspective shifts the focus from being "broken" to being a "survivor." Your symptoms—the hypervigilance, the dissociation—were actually brilliant adaptations your body made to keep you alive during a difficult time. We honor those responses even as we work to soften them.

Embodied Storytelling

You can "rewrite" your body's story through movement. If your body learned to "shrink" to be safe, practicing "expansive" movements—taking up space, stretching your arms wide, standing tall—sends a signal to your brain that it is now safe to be seen. You are moving out of the old story and into a new, embodied presence.
